45 days · 10 minutes a day

You already know what to do.
The hard part is the moment.

Reading about Stoicism won't stop you from firing off that angry email. Steady Life trains the reflex — day after day, with real situations, until the steady response arrives before the reaction does.

The Steady Life app: the 45-day path, days already finished ticked off, under the heading “Phase 1 · Days 1–15 — Mastery of the Mind”.
The real problem

It isn't information you're missing. It's reflex.

Everyone has read that we shouldn't be disturbed by what we don't control. And the irritation still gets there first — because emotion is fast and reason is slow, and nobody ever trained reason to arrive on time.

6:47pm — the message A short work note with no context. In three seconds you've built an entire story about what they meant by it.
9:12pm — the scroll Other people's lives glide past and yours looks small. You never decided to compare; it simply happened.
8:30am — the task You know exactly what needs doing. And you do anything else. Again.

“Men are disturbed not by things, but by the views which they take of things.”

The first tool

Draw the line — and stay on the right side of it

Day 1 starts here, with the oldest and most misused tool in Stoicism: the dichotomy of control. Not as a concept. As a practical decision, repeated until it's automatic.

Up to me

Where energy pays off

  • What I choose to do in the next ten minutes
  • The judgement I make about what happened
  • The tone I answer in
  • What I give my attention to
  • Whether I come back tomorrow
Not up to me

Where energy is lost

  • What the other person meant
  • Whether my effort gets recognised
  • Traffic, weather, the market
  • The past — all of it
  • Other people's opinion of me
How it works

Ten minutes. Four steps. Every day.

The daily session was designed for anxious and ADHD brains: one step at a time, minimal friction, and nothing that punishes a wrong answer.

The scene Master Zeno narrates an ordinary situation — traffic, a meeting, a message read the wrong way. You listen or read.
The choice Three possible reactions. You pick yours. Getting it wrong costs no lives, breaks no streak, creates no guilt — it just shows what to repair.
The principle After you answer, the Stoic principle behind it: the philosophy, the thing to watch for, and one quick exercise for today.
The record You write down something that actually happened. Master Zeno reads it kindly, names the principle at play, and teaches — without judging.

Spaced repetition

Every session mixes the new idea with a review of earlier ones — always in different scenarios. By Day 10, Day 1 has come back roughly ten times. That's how it becomes reflex instead of recall.

Gamification that calms

Visible progress, days that add up and achievements that stay. Answering off the path costs no lives, resets nothing and sends you back nowhere — it becomes data for Master Zeno. No hearts that die, no countdown tightening your chest.

A master who knows your story

You write what happened; Master Zeno identifies which of the 45 principles was at play, assesses whether you acted in line with it, and teaches the next step. A journal that answers back.

The journey

45 days, three phases, one direction

Entirely original content, written for today — not a collection of old quotations. Every day has a principle, exercises and a record — and what you write stays yours.

Grid of the programme's 45 days, split into three phases of 15 days. All 45 days are free.

Phase I Phase II Phase III
Phase I · Mastery — Days 1 to 15 Tell what's yours from what isn't. The dichotomy of control, the gap between stimulus and response, and the end of arguing with reality.
Phase II · Practice — Days 16 to 30 Move philosophy into the body and the calendar. Voluntary discomfort, discipline of desire, the view from above, and the art of not comparing.
Phase III · Character — Days 31 to 45 Consolidate who you've become. Virtue as the only currency, finitude as a compass, and the commitment that holds everything after Day 45.

And after Day 45? Reinforcement begins: endless daily practice, with Master Zeno alongside you — like a gym, nobody cancels because they “already got fit”.

FAQ

What people usually ask

Do I need to know any philosophy?
None. The app assumes no reading and never uses jargon without explaining it. Each principle appears in everyday language, inside a situation you'll recognise. If you've already read Marcus Aurelius there's depth here too — but nobody has to start there.
Is this therapy? Does it replace a psychologist?
No, and it shouldn't. Steady Life is an educational wellbeing programme: it teaches and trains a way of thinking. It makes no diagnosis, treats no condition and is not clinical care. If you're in serious distress, please see a mental health professional — the app itself points you there when it detects signs of crisis.
I have ADHD and quit everything after three days. Will this be different?
The app was designed by someone with ADHD, for that brain. Short sessions with a clear end; one step at a time; an immediate reward on finishing; wrong answers that don't punish; and mistakes that don't punish, so a stumble doesn't become a reason to quit. Not magic — but far less hostile than most.
Why 45 days and not 30 or 21?
Because behavioural habits take longer than the popular “21 days” suggests, and because the material needs three distinct phases: understand, practise, consolidate. Fifteen days per phase is the smallest size where each still fits whole, with enough spaced repetition to stick.
Do I need internet?
Not to practise. Lessons, exercises and your journal work offline; syncing happens on its own when you're back online. Master Zeno's counsel is the only part that needs a connection, because it runs on the server.
What happens to what I write?
It stays in your account, encrypted in transit and at rest, and serves only you and Master Zeno's counsel. We don't sell data, we don't use your writing in advertising, and you can delete everything whenever you like, right in the app. Details in the Privacy Policy.
